Daniel Pocha, a member of the Little Shell Tribe, stood in a park known as 'The Lazy Green' across from Helena Middle School on Wednesday, happy that a memorial honoring his tribe had finally come to fruition. The plaque, a circular memorial embedded in concrete, commemorates the 1908 Nepaquashimowin, or Thirsty Sun Dance. Little Shell tribal member Dan Pocha on Wednesday looks over the plaque commemorating the 1908 Nepaquashimowin, or Thirsty Sun Dance. 'This has been a dream of people here in Helena for a long time,' he said to nearly 30 others who had gathered for the dedication ceremony.
